About 3 years ago a couple who just moved from Pittsfield to Medway asked me to build a replica of a fireplace surround they had in their Pittsfield home. I worked from a picture they supplied and built them a copy. They decided to move again and reached out for another surround for the new home and these are a few pic's of what I came up with.

This is an lower and upper fireplace surround I made recently for a customer. Its made from poplar and finished in BMoore White Dove. The brick was replaced by TF Figuerido Masonry who does beautiful work and who makes my job a lot easier. He takes the time to make sure the layout is square and the bricks are layed perfectly plum so I can get a nice tight fit with the surround. This was the last project of a 1st floor remodel. This fireplace surround is part of a wall unit I did recently. The plan was to mount a flat panel TV as part of the upper surround , but because of the brick the TV mount would've placed the tv to far from the surround taking away from the mantel. So plan B was put into effect and a series of 3 raised panels would replace the TV.

Danielle contacted me through my website and hired me to build this surround from a picture she found on the web. Its built from poplar and finished in Benjamin Moore Decorators White. The install went perfect and Danielle now has a nice addition to the living room.

This is a fireplace surround I built for the Paille's. Constructed from poplar with adjustable shelving and red oak caps for the base cabinet's. Stereo components, speakers, and DVD's will fill some of the shelves. A new 42" LCD TV will sit above the mantle. Melissa is handling the painting duties can't wait to see the finish product.

This is a replica of a mantel my customer had in their previous house, Kathy asked me to come as close as possible to the original design, she provided a couple of pictures that I worked from. I made this from poplar and will be finished in white paint by Kathy's husband.

Tina's Mantel Shelf

I was contacted through my website to build this fireplace mantel shelf. I met with Tina, took measurments and discussed design. She wanted something simple to finish off this beautiful stone fireplace and provided an image from the web of the style she preferred. The uneveness of the stones made for a challenging install but in the end I was happy with the finished product and hope Tina & Mark are happy too.

This is a mantel I built for a customer out of poplar to go along with two built-ins. A couple of designs were discussed before settling on this style with raised panels to match the raised panels of the built-in. I was supplied with a drawing. I worked out the mantel dimensions then headed to my work shop where the saw dust started flying. I love the design and this was a challenge to build incorporating different woodworking techniques.

Maple Fireplace Mantel Surround

I was contracted to build a mantel surround from maple for a marble gas fired fireplace. Fire code restrictions and limited wall space made this a very challenging project.My client supplied me with an image of a design they found on the web, I used the pic to sketch out the proportions and began production. My biggest concern was when the mantel was finished the crown and mantel cap would not extend past the edge of the wall. Measure twice cut once is something you hear alot in woodworking in this case I measured a half dozen times before cutting and thankfully ended up with a 1/4" to spare on each side.I then stained the mantel to match their existing built in.

Donna's Christmas Present

I was contracted to build a fireplace mantel surround out of poplar. I had a picture of a mantel I had done a while back and my client Donna had an image from the web, we took the features she liked from both and combined them to create this surround. The week before Christmas I removed the old mantel and took the final measurements and was asked if it would be possible to have it done for the holiday. I said I can't guarantee it but will try my best. I intstalled the surround with the help of my Dad the morning of Christmas Eve.
